AFL RECEIVER OF THE YEAR ANNOUNCED
Malachi Jones Awarded Best Receiver in Back-to-Back Seasons
ALBANY, NY – The Arena Football League today announced Malachi Jones of the Albany Empire earned Wide Receiver of the Year Award. This is Jones’ second consecutive Wide Receiver of the Year honors in just his second season.
Jones was instrumental to Albany’s top-ranked offense this season. He was the only receiver to reach 1,000 receiving yards on the season while leading the League with 1,440. Jones finished second only to his teammate, Quentin Sims, in receiving touchdowns with 25 on the season. He also recorded nine games with 100 or more receiving yards, good for a League best.
Jones also earned First Team All-Arena honors announced on August 1. He helped Albany stay dominant throughout the season as the team boasted a 10-2 record, ultimately securing the top seed in the AFL playoffs.
