ALBANY EMPIRE ANNOUNCE OPEN CALL FOR DANCE TEAM AUDITIONSScheduled for November 3rd
ALBANY- The Albany Empire announce today that the team will be hosting an open call tryout on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 for those interested in becoming a member of the Albany Empresses, Empire Dance Team. Auditions will be held at the Albany Capital Center on 55 Eagle Street, Albany NY 12207. Registration for the audition is at 8:30 a.m. and the audition begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. The auditions are open to high school graduates of at least 18 years of age with any dance experience.
The Dance Team is a pivotal part of the organization. They not only perform routines to entertain Empire fans at home games at the Times Union Center, but they represent the organization through appearances at team, community and partner events.
“The members of our dance team are so much more than just dancers within this organization,” said George Manias, Vice President of Business Operations. “The Empresses serve as ambassadors to the Albany Empire as they represent us out in the community and at local events. The group we had last season did a great job entertaining our fans on the field and giving us a presence out in the community. The bar has been set high and we hope to get another great crop of people auditioning this season, so we can continue to grow upon what we started here.”
The Empire is seeking the top dance talent in the Capital Region! Participants will be taught a routine and do not need to prepare their own. Applicants will be judged on dance ability, appearance, personality and attitude. All are encouraged to audition. Once open auditions are concluded, the judge’s panel will narrow down their choices for the team. These remaining selections will undergo a two-day boot camp, and semi-finalist interviews, leading up to a final event when the 2019 team will be revealed.
Interested in signing up for the audition? A pre-registration fee of $20 can be applied using PayPal at www.TheAlbanyEmpire.com before Friday, November 2nd at 3 p.m. Registration after that day and time will require an application fee of $25 (cash or cashier’s check only). Dancers are required to wear two-piece dance wear, including midriff top, lycra shorts and appropriate footwear. Please arrive to the Albany Capital Center by 8:30 a.m. to register. The audition will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m.
Free parking will be available in the Market Street garage next to the Times Union Center.
